There's no place like . . . for the Holidays (Part II)

We had a quiet, relaxing Christmas this year. We spent Christmas Eve with our good friends, the Duncans. They made an amazing lasagna Bolognese and salad. I made rosemary focaccia and chocolate peppermint cake. We all sang songs together and read the Christmas story and then drove home the long way so we could see lots of Christmas lights.

After we opened our gifts on Christmas morning, we had our traditional breakfast of Christmas cinnamon roll, breakfast casserole, and fruit. Then we stayed in our jammies all day, playing with toys and watching movies. Late that afternoon it started to snow and snowed lightly all night, so that we had a good 3-4 inches by morning. We got a late night call that church would be cancelled, so we spent a 3rd day in a row relaxing together as a family, trying out new craft projects, and eating up our holiday goodies. The reindeer cookies are our own family tradition, started a few years ago and using this recipe.

Now it's Monday and time to go play in the snow (while it lasts, which won't be long!)

i love that you had snow on Christmas! So perfect. And your reindeer cookies are too cute. I am making a note of adding that to our advent activities for 2011!

You guys are such a darling family--we miss you!
