Our sweet Sarah Jane turned 5 yesterday, March 10th. Yesterday's birthday bash came on the heels of Madeline's entrance into double digits on February 25th.
Where has the time gone? These events seemed to us a perfect time to begin a blog--still not happy with that name--of our family.

Madeline's birthday was a great success thanks to thoughtful packages, calls, and cards from loving grandparents, aunts, and uncles. She got a piece of calcite from dad--Maddie is crazy about rocks and minerals. She also got to invite her teacher, Mrs. Taft and her family, to a special birthday dinner.
Sarah Jane had a wonderful day on the 10th despite the fact that

she says her "ear bulbs" have been burned out all week (i.e., an excuse not to listen to her parents). She requested German Chocolate Cake -- properly capitalized here because it is the cake of monarchs. Delicious. But, lest we seem too pretentious, Sarah Jane revealed that we live in the land of NASCAR by insisting that we invite her birthday guests (the Bradford family) to a dinner starring corn dogs and tater tots.
